Today is the optional Memorial of St. Joan of Arc.  Most of us are familiar with her story in some way, whether it is with the heavenly voices she heard, or, the fact that she was burned at the stake while still a teenager, for being falsely accused of being a heretic by enemies of the Church, from within and without.  The main point that I would like to make though is the gift of our youth, and, the contributions they are able to make in living, and promoting the Faith.  Yesterday, I was blessed to be a part of a “Graduation Procession” of over 20 vehicles containing the Principal, teachers, and parents as we drove to the homes of the St. Andrew’s graduating 8th graders.

I have been blessed to have known these students for three years now, and, have seen first hand their knowledge and love of our Faith.  St. John tells us at the end of today’s Gospel, that all the books of the world would not be able to contain Jesus’ words, and, they are not meant to, because, our lives are supposed to bear witness to what is not written.  We saw that in St. Joan of Arc, and, I am sure we will continue to see it in our Catholic youth of today, for the battle of proclaiming the Truth still rages on.  St. Joan of Arc, pray for us!

God bless you,
Fr. Robert
