Father's Wednesday, 4/29/2020 Message

Today we celebrate the Memorial of St. Catherine of Sienna. She experienced mystical revelations from Jesus and Mary, bore the Stigmata of Christ, and, is a Doctor of the Church.  The 23rd of reportedly 26 children of Jacopo and Lapa Benincasa in Sienna, Italy in 1347, she died at the age of 33.

We have a tendency sometimes to think that because people lived hundreds of years before us, they couldn't know anything about how our lives are.  Yet, if we are willing to learn about them, we will begin to see that there are many similarities.

They came from families, they experience joys and sorrows, in their life, in the world, and, in the Church, and, so, above all, the Saints are witnesses to us  that we are not alone in what we may be going through at any given time.  Catherine lived during the time of the Great Schism in the Church, where there were 3 Popes at one time!!!  God began working in her heart at the early age of six, and, continued throughout her life.  One of her most famous works is called The Dialogues in which she recounts God's conversations with her.

May this Easter Season be a time where you can learn about our brothers and sisters, the Saints, who are always praying for us before God.

God bless you,
Fr. Robert

This is called the Limpias Crucifix because, it was carved in Limpias, Spain.
