Father's Friday, 5/08/2020 Message

Like John 3:16, "For God so loved the world..." is a Scriptural passage known, and quoted by many, so the Words of Jesus in today's Gospel, "I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life..." fall into the same category.  What does this mean? I would like to provide an insight today from the commentary in the Navarre Bible:  "I Am the Way"; "He is the only path linking heaven and earth.

He has left a clear outline of His footprints, we call them the teachings of the Catholic Church."  "I Am the Truth"; "because, by coming into the world, He shows that the Father is faithful to His promises that He made to us from the foundation of the world."  "I Am the Life": "because, from all eternity He has Divine life with His Father, and, because He makes us, through grace (the Sacraments), sharers in that Divine Life."  And, so indeed, there is no other way to the Father, but, through Him.

May this revelation provided for us today, through teaching, and, given in the picture of the Eucharist, the true source of love, fill our hearts with joy.

God bless you,
Fr. Robert
