Father's Wednesday, 4/15/2020 Message

Today's Gospel, called the Road to Emmaus is one of my favorites.  I say this because, while it seems long from an amount of text perspective, it is actually concise, in that in these few words, it is revealing to us God's plan of salvation, in Jesus Christ.  In His conversation with these two disciples, He opens up, which means He explains that all of the Old Testament will find its purpose, or, its fulfillment in Him.  This fulfillment is accomplished in a certain way, through a real union with Him in the Sacraments, most especially, the Holy Eucharist, where He is Truly Present, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.  We see that this truth, this enlightening of the disciples, enabling them to understand, sets their hearts on fire within them of Who Jesus truly is, and, they have to make it known.  We are blessed to have this same encounter with Jesus that they experienced, because, it is available to us in every Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

God bless you, Fr. Robert
